Why should I join Multicom-4? ----------------------------- Multicom-4 is a free, computer-based information sharing network. It links the people and organizations of this region, provides useful information, and enables an open exchange of ideas with the world. Community involvement makes Multicom-4 an important and accessible meeting place, and prepares people for full participation in a rapidly changing communications environment. Only validated members are given full access to all services. Registration is free and is open to everyone over the age of 21. When you become a member of Multicom-4, your user-id (or handle) will identify you on our system, it also allows you to use Multicom-4 services such as E-mail and Usenet news. -------------------------- Step 1: Signing On as New -------------------------- Once you have signed on, please follow the validation procedures outlined in the VALIDATING YOUR NEW ACCOUNT menu. Please do not sign on again as new, as this will slow down the activation of your existing account. You will be shown the Membership Agreement in just a moment. Please read it carefully. It is a legal document. Failure to abide by the rules of the Membership Agreement or the System Policies may result in cancellation of your account. Your registration information will be kept confidential as part of Multicom-4's records. You will also be given the opportunity to pledge a donation to help support Multicom-4. --------------------------- Your Donation is Important: --------------------------- Multicom-4 is a community-based information and communication system. Although it is free to use, it is not free to run. Please give generously to keep this service free and accessible to everyone in our community. Multicom-4 is a non-profit corporation and any donation that you make will be used to improve the quality of our service. No donation is too small or too large... we suggest $25 as a good place to start. You can contribute by cheque, money order, via our "900" numbers, MASTER CARD, VISA or American Express (we do not recommend sending cash in the mail) when you send your mail-in confirmation. If you are using a credit card, please be sure to include your card number, expiry date and the amount of your contribution. Thank you! -------------------------------------------- Step 2: Mail-in validation/Voice Validation -------------------------------------------- Remember, Multicom-4 needs both your on-line registration and the paper documents (or voice validation) before your account can be activated. All information will be kept confidential and in the case where you have to mail or fax us a photocopy of your identification, it will be locked up. You may continue to log on to Multicom-4 as a guest (in the NEW class) until your mail-in confirmation or voice validation is processed by the office. Multicom-4 will NOT notify you when your account is activated. You should keep trying to log in with your assigned User-ID and the password chosen during registration. If it does not work two weeks after mailing your paperwork, please call the Multicom-4 help desk at (716) 442-1669.
